For individuals who have previously earned a bachelor's degree, you may consider enrolling in an alternative certification program where you can teach and work towards your LA teaching certificate. For an overview of the three possible alternative routes please read here. Pathways to Teaching Alternate Teacher Preparation Programs - If you have at least a bachelor’s degree and want to be a teacher, an alternate preparation program is the right pathway for you. Traditional Teacher Preparation Programs- If you decide prior to college or early in your college career that you want to be a teacher, a traditional preparation program is the right pathway for you. Associate of Science in Teaching - If you are searching for an affordable and flexible pathway to begin working toward teacher certification requirements at a community college, this program is the right pathway for you. Paraprofessional Programs - If you have at least a high school diploma and want to work with children in schools, this program is the right pathway for you.
